Young MA sparked concerns about her health on Tuesday (March 14) after sharing a video her hairdresser posted to Instagram Story. In response to viral attention, MA and Fats Da Barber have issued statements about their recent appearance.
The clip shows MA nodding as Fats to the background music gives a 360-degree look at their fresh line-up. It quickly spread across social platforms. Fans were concerned about the obvious bald patches between her locs and deep yellow eyes.
Some people blamed the barber for taking MA with bad intentionsothers cracked jokes and many more sent prayers and healings down the rapper’s path.

As previously mentioned, Young MA and Fats responded to the criticism on their independent Instagram story on Wednesday.
“You guys have so much to say like I’m trying to embarrass my mate she reposted my video. If she didn’t want me to record her she would have told me that you don’t know our bond nor our friendship, you just have to send her prayers for her and that’s it,” wrote Fats Da Barber.
MA and Fats didn’t explain why the rapper would need prayers. However, the barber continued his public reaction by revealing that MA hadn’t had a haircut in over a month – a timeline she later corrected.
“…She wanted me to bring her haircut back to life and what I did!!!! Thank you sis for coming and rocking with me like always. I love you,” Fats added.
Within an hour of Fats’ message, the rapper reposted it to her Instagram story – encouraging the hairstylist to ignore the criticism.
“We are blessed, don’t let this get to you, Blooda [fingers crossed emoticon]…and I told you it’s been about 4 months [laughing emoticon},” the rapper wrote.

Though she admitted to not receiving a cut in over four months, Fats posted a promotional clip of her on March 4. It’s also unclear when it was taken. However, in that video, the rapper’s eyes are not yellow, but it’s difficult to tell if there’s any hair loss.
As explained, the reactions to M.A.’s recent appearance sparked various reactions. Several folks called for privacy– pointing to the social commentary surrounding Chadwick Boseman’s weight loss in the weeks leading to his passing. However, we later learned that the weight drop resulted from his private battle with colon cancer.

Fans Discuss Young M.A.’s Documented Battle With Depression And Alcohol Abuse
As fans try to decipher what’s going on, some have taken to M.A.’s past interviews, including sharing a clip of her 2018 talk with a therapist published by Viceland.
In the interview, she spoke about the loss of her brother, who was killed by a fellow gang member, and her music.
“I’m here to inspire and I know it and I get it now because the music is not just the music. It’s so deeper than that now and I’m learning that now. Before it was just something I loved, something I drink about, something I wanted to do,” the rapper said.
In June 2021, Young M.A. reportedly revealed she was checking herself into rehab for an unspecified addiction. At the time, she captioned a photo, “MAB I’ll be back…boutta lose this addiction…On my way! to rehab.”
In December 2022, a woman shared a video on social media of M.A. using a scooter in a grocery store. At the time, the video gained millions of views. In addition to recognizing her in the clip, fans matched the varsity jacket she wore in the grocery store to previous photographs of the rapper wearing the same coat.
