Worldcoin, a crypto unicorn, has officially opened the waiting list for its “World ID” software kit. This blockchain tool allows website builders to verify that their users are not robots without having to store their personal information. Based in San Francisco, USA, the company aims to enable world citizenship to obtain their “world IDs”. This “global proof of identity” eliminates the need to enter names, numbers, and other personal information just to interact with websites.
While people can start getting their World IDs right away, Worldcoin has opened a waiting list for developers to gain access to its World ID software kit.
Layered with zero-knowledge cryptography, World ID software development kit enables software programmers to create a privacy-centric, self-governing and decentralized human verification system for websites.
“World ID is like a global digital passport that lives locally on its owner’s phone. At launch, this will include phone number verification and iris verification while maintaining privacy,” Worldcoin wrote in its blog entry.

At a time when bots are increasingly being activated across the web, Worldcoin said it aims to create the world’s largest network of “authentic people.”
The company, co-founded by OpenAI founder Sam Altman, uses chrome-plated, volleyball-sized balls to scan the retina in exchange for crypto.
The company now wants to delve deeper into the Web3 world with its World ID project.
To create their World IDs, people don’t need to provide their biometrics, phone numbers, or crypto wallet information.
“Borrowing the passport analogy, proof of identity verification is essentially a stamp that allows the holder to prove that a particular passport has been verified without revealing any information about the verification or the passport itself,” Worldcoin explained.
The company has found that the easiest way to use World ID is through the sign-in method.
“When you select the “Sign up with Worldcoin” option on any website, mobile app or crypto dapp, you are approving or denying the request from your self-custody wallet to authenticate yourself and prove that you have a real and unique person are No one, not even Worldcoin employees or application developers, can track you across websites, identify the World ID associated with your account, or generally know more about you,” the firm added.
