Shortly thereafter, Alsalman spoke about how he felt Chappelle’s “personality involved.”

“I think a lot of his personality is convoluted. He’s a comedian. As you know him, that’s not what people have portrayed him to be. He made fun of black people; he made fun of white people.”

He noted that this was regardless of how people viewed the comedian controversieshe will “celebrate Dave”.

“I’m going to celebrate Dave and the community around him and the work he’s done for us as a generation and what he’s done for us.”

Alsalman concluded by teasing that the students “may” get a chance to even meet Chappelle.

“Maybe Dave will come, maybe not. But that’s not really why I do it. I do it more to thank him and celebrate him and really make history.”
