Caller ID verification platform Truecaller announced on Thursday the opening of its first exclusive office space outside of Sweden in Bengaluru.
The office was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
A company press release states that the Bengaluru facility occupies a renovated 30,443 square feet and will accommodate up to 250 employees and will feature world-class technology and amenities.
Truecaller plans to use this facility as its primary hub to provide India First capabilities and serve users worldwide, it said. This office is Truecaller’s largest office outside of the main office in Stockholm, Sweden.
Since entering the country a decade ago, Truecaller has now grown to 338 million monthly active users, a large chunk of which – 246 million – are from India, the company said.
The company said India offers unique opportunities to launch new products and services on the Truecaller platform and talked about how the feedback received has helped it continue to improve solutions, which is vital to its growth and ability to innovate.
Minister Chandrasekhar congratulated Truecaller and said the company’s decision to open an exclusive office in India is representative of India’s growth as a trusted technology partner to the world.
“The government’s vision and focus is to enable entrepreneurship and the growth of a dynamic innovation and start-up ecosystem in India,” said Chandrasekhar. “The journey to where we are today in 2023 as one of the most exciting and fastest growing ecosystems in the world has been the result of the hard work of many years in which our Prime Minister has outlined and set one of the main goals of making India a technology enabler Truecaller’s CEO and co-founder, Alan Mamedi, said the new facility in Bengaluru is a further validation of the company’s continued investments in India.
“We aim to continue serving India’s digital society and economy with the best experience on our app, with security and privacy as core operating principles,” said Mamedi.
“The growth of our business in India is closely linked to the increasing use of smartphones and the internet… We remain committed to the safety of our users and the values of Digital India, an open, trusted, secure and responsible internet,” he said.
