Sharp Aquos R8, Sharp Aquos R8 Pro With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Dual Rear Cameras Launched: Specifications

Sharp Aquos R8 and Sharp Aquos R8 Pro launched in Japan. The new handsets are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The Sharp Aquos R8 and Aquos R8 Pro feature a 240Hz display with adaptive refresh rate and support for Dolby Vision. They feature military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810G) and have IPX8, IPX5, and IP6X ratings. The smartphones also have two rear cameras from the Leica brand.

Price information for the Sharp Aquos R8 and Sharp Aquos R8 Pro is currently not available. The Aquos R8 is available in blue and cream hues while the Aquos R8 Pro is offered in black color. Both models are planned available from July this year through Docomo and Softbank in Japan.

Sharp Aquos R8 specifications

The Sharp Aquos R8 runs on Android 13 and features a 6.39-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) IGZO OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and support for Dolby Vision. It is powered by an octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with an Adreno 740 GPU and 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

In terms of optics, the Sharp Aquos R8 has a dual rear camera unit consisting of a 50.3 megapixel Leica Hector sensor with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) support. The rear camera unit also houses a 13-megapixel ultra-wide secondary camera. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The Sharp Aquos R8 has 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, which can be expanded up to 1 TB with microSD. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack, Beidu, Glonass and a USB Type-C port. There is a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display for authentication. The phone has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. It features military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810G) and is certified to be sweat, dust, and water resistant with IPX8, IPX5, and IP6X ratings. The Sharp Aquos R8 packs a 4,570mAh battery with fast charge support. It weighs about 170 grams.

Sharp Aquos R8 Pro specifications

The Sharp Aquos R8 Pro also runs on Android 13 and features a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO (1,260 x 2,730 pixels) OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and Dolby Vision support. It features an octa-core 4 nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with Adreno 740 GPU and 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

The Sharp Aquos R8 Pro features a dual rear camera unit consisting of a 1-inch 47.2-megapixel Summicron primary sensor co-developed with Leica with EIS and a 1.9-megapixel secondary sensor. There is also a 12.6-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

It has up to 256 GB of integrated UFS 4.0 storage, which can be expanded by up to 1 TB via a microSD card. The connection options are identical to those of the Sharp Aquos R8. The Sharp Aquos R8 Pro also features an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for authentication. It also features MIL-STD-810G durability and IPX8, IPX5, and IP6X ratings.

The Sharp Aquos R8 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery with fast charge support. It also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
