Redmi A2, Redmi A2+ India Launch Scheduled for May 19; Specifications Teased

The Redmi A2 series is scheduled to launch in India on May 19th. The Xiaomi sub-brand confirmed the arrival of the new A-series smartphones in the country via Twitter on Friday. The upcoming models are said to have a 5,000 mAh battery and an octa-core processor. The Redmi A2 series, consisting of the vanilla Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ models, was launched in selected global markets in March. They feature a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD screen and are powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC. They have an 8-megapixel dual camera on the back.

Redmi India tweeted that the launch of the Redmi A2 series will take place on May 19th at 11:00 AM IST in India. The Indian variants of the Redmi A2 series are said to come with a 5,000 mAh battery and an octa-core processor.

The phones feature a waterdrop-style notch on the screen that houses the selfie cameras. The Redmi A2 series phones are powered by a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with up to 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 32GB of eMMC 5.1 onboard storage.

They have a dual rear camera consisting of an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a QVGA camera. There is a 5 megapixel selfie sensor for selfies and video chats. The Redmi A2 series features 5,000mAh batteries with 10W fast charge support. The Redmi A2+ features a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
