Rasheem Carter: Mississippi black man found dismembered after allegedly being chased by white men, family demands answers

Over four months after his dismembered remains were found in a wooded area, the family of Rasheem Carter Demands that the Department of Justice (DOJ) take on the case, as local authorities were quick to rule out third-party negligence from the outset.

Authorities said they had “no reason” to suspect foul play in the Rasheem Carter case

WAPT reports that Rasheem disappeared in early October and – shortly before he went missing – the 25-year-old informed his mother that he was being pursued by a group of white men in Taylorsville, Mississippi.

When his dismembered remains were later found in early November, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office noted that — while the death was being investigated — they had “no reason to believe a crime was involved.”

While the Post did not elaborate on the sheriff’s office’s stance, NBC News Authorities reportedly told three different family members that they believe wild animals may be responsible for tearing Rasheem Carter’s body apart.

We should also add that the coroner could not determine a cause of death as Carter’s remains were badly decomposed.

Ben Crump calls the situation ‘a Mississippi lynch’

However, Carter’s family immediately eyed the account from the side and enlisted the help of Ben Crump to help in their quest for justice.

During a recent press conference, the civil rights attorney underscored the suspicious nature of the situation, noting that Rasheem’s head and spinal cord were traced in two different areas.

“His head was severed from his body. His vertebrae, his spinal cord, were in a different location that they discovered outside of his severed head.”

He went on to announce, “Somebody murdered Rasheem Carter and we can’t let them get away with it.”

“One thing is certain: it was not a natural death. This represents a young man who has been killed. This tells us that this was a shameful act, an evil act. Somebody murdered Rasheem Carter and we can’t let them get away with it.”

Additionally, Crump described the affair as “a Mississippi lynch in 2022.”

Because of these factors, Crump and the family want the DOJ to intervene.

“We need the highest levels of law enforcement to do justice to Rasheem Carter like he’s your kid.”

We offer our condolences to the family and pray that justice is done to Rasheem Carter.
