Paytm announced on Tuesday that it is introducing support for UPI Lite on iOS. During a live event, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO and Founder of Paytm said announced that the company’s subsidiary, Paytm Payments Bank, also added support for RuPay credit cards on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), along with other features that allow users to split bills, pin a contact for quick access, or use an alternative UPI Set up ID to hide their mobile number. According to the company, the Paytm Super App has around 60 lakh users signed up to use UPI Lite so far.
According to details The faster UPI-Lite system shared by Paytm, which is said to work even at peak times, is now available for iOS. The company also said it has 60 lakh UPI Lite users while a total of 13 banks support UPI Lite on Paytm. 70,000 small retailers are now using the Paytm Soundbox, a loudspeaker that announces incoming payments.
Paytm also announced that users with RuPay credit cards can now register to make OTP-free UPI payments through the company’s application. You can benefit from reward points just like other users who signed up with other cards.
In July 2022, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) Managing Director and CEO, Dilip Asbe, had announced that around 250 million users – a fifth of the population – were using UPI and that within a few months RuPay cards were using the UPI platform would be linked.
Other features announced by the company include the ability to create groups with friends in the Paytm app to take advantage of the “Split Bill” feature. Users can also pin contacts to interact with regularly, according to the details shared by Paytm, for easy access.
Payments on Paytm can now be tagged with specific labels, the company announced on Tuesday. These can be easily accessed to see all payments that are tagged with a specific label, making it easy to keep track of specific payments, the company says.
