Nipsey Hussle’s brother Samiel Asghedom sheds some light on the fate of the rapper’s brick and mortar store, The Marathon Clothing Store. As previously reported by The Shade Room, Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot in March 2019 in the store’s parking lot. The store on Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles, California immediately closed.
Visitors came from all over the world to pay tribute to the rapper’s legacy. However, later that year a gate was constructed around the entire car park.
Nipsey Hussle’s brother sheds light on the future of marathon clothing
Samiel Asghedom recently met with the for an interview Earn your free time podcast. He announced that The Marathon Clothing Store will soon have a second location on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California.
“Hopefully – God willing – it will be open soon. But it definitely feels good to just go ahead and cement it. And reopen a stationary location.”
Asghedom is very focused on The Marathon Clothing having a physical location despite steady online sales. He says the motivation comes from his late brother.
“That’s a lesson from brother – from Hussle. He simply explained to the whole team how important it is in his vision to have a place…that has to be touched and experienced. He said you have to own retail and make it special… If you want to tap into Marathon products and apparel with anything he makes, the only place you can get it is in the actual store save on computer…”
Nipsey Hussle’s brother explained the importance of having a store for Hussle’s children
Asghedom, also known as Blacc Sam, also showed the importance of keeping Nipsey Hussle’s business open for his children, Emani and Kross. Emani Asghedom is the 14-year-old daughter of Nipsey Hussle, whom he shares with Tanisha Asghedom. Kross Asghedom is Nipsey Hussle’s 6-year-old son who he shares with actress Lauren London.
According to Asghedom, the new building of the Marathon clothing store is owned by his children.
“When I say it’s ours, it’s on behalf of Hussle’s children. It’s something their father worked for and they own and it’s important to me. Even having just a brick and mortar reinforced what Hussle told us and taught us about whether you’re not booming online or slowing down, just having that brick and mortar and being able to pass it through to the family , I think is important.”
The Earn your free time Hosts, Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings confirmed that the decision is indeed a wise one. Since the building is located on Melrose Avenue, a popular shopping and tourist area in Los Angeles, the building’s value is likely to increase.
Asghedom confirmed the hosts’ assessment.
“The property has already doubled in size since we got it, yes.”
