Marc Leishman leads the way after day one of LIV Golf Tuscon scored a 65 in the opening round, with Matthew Wolff, Abraham Ancer and Louis Oosthuizen a stroke behind in a tie for second.

Australian Marc Leishman made seven birdies and just one bogey to emerge with the lead after the first round of LIV Golf Tucson on Friday.
Leishman shot a 6-under-par 65 on The Gallery South Course in Arizona, putting him a stroke ahead of Matthew Wolff, Abraham Ancer of Mexico and Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.
Peter Uihlein, Chile’s Joaquín Niemann and Spain’s David Puig are tied for fifth place at four under par. Six players, including Kevin Na and Spaniard Sergio Garcia, share eighth place at three under par.
Leishman, who started playing at No. 5, birdied two of his first three holes before recording his lone bogey on the par-4 11th hole.
He responded immediately with a birdie on the par-four 12th hole, then added four more birdies the rest of the way.
“I’m enjoying my golf right now,” Leishman said. “Playing without consequence during the offseason gave me a little bit of confidence with some of the shots I took and how they turned out.
“Actually, I putt a good one at 16 in front of the Birdie Shack. It was nice to birdie in front of there and get a good standing ovation.”
Ancer and Wolff completed bogey-free rounds that included streaks of three consecutive birdies.
Oosthuizen started slowly, posting 11 pairs and a bogey to open his round. However, he finished with six straight birdies, starting at the par-4 15th hole and finishing at the second par-4.
In the team competition, the Torque GC, captained by Niemann and led by Puig, occupies first place with 10 under par.
Three teams are tied for second place at nine under: Smash GC, captained by Brooks Koepka and including Wolff; Iron Heads GC, captained by Na; and Fireballs GC, captained by Garcia and including Ancer.
