Lava Agni 2 5G is slated to launch in India soon. The company has confirmed the launch date of the smartphone. The phone has been officially touted as having a curved display and has been confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC. It will succeed the Lava Agni 5G that launched in the country in November 2021. The successor to the original Lava Agni is long overdue. In the last few weeks there have been several leaks and reports about the upcoming Lava smartphone. The phone’s large rear camera module used to be tilted and is now partially visible in promotional images as well.
lava announced that the Lava Agni 2 5G will launch on May 16th at 12pm (IST) in India. The company tweeted the announcement with the hashtag “ahead of the cure,” suggesting a curved display panel. The phone has been confirmed to be exclusively available for purchase through Amazon.
A previous report suggested that the Lava Agni 2 5G is expected to launch at a price of around Rs. 20,000. In the official teaser, the phone is seen in a glossy teal hue. The report added that the handset will also be offered in a second color option. The smartphone has been confirmed to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, a rebranded MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The phone will likely run Android 13 by default.
Previously leaked live images suggest the rear quad-camera unit is housed in a large, center-aligned circular camera module at the top of the rear panel. The Lava Agni 2 5G teaser also shows a similar design. All four cameras, including the LED flash, are expected to be housed in this module. The main rear camera is expected to use a 50-megapixel sensor. The front camera is said to have a 16-megapixel sensor.
The Lava Agni 2 5G is also reportedly sporting a 6.5-inch HD+ AMOLED (1600 x 900) display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is also expected to come with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The phone will reportedly come with a 5,000mAh battery with 44W wired charging support and a USB Type-C charging port.
Lava had the Agni 5G in a single storage variant of 8GB + 128GB priced at Rs. 19,999. It is only available in the Fiery Blue color option. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The phone’s quad rear camera system includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor.
