The HTC U23 Pro is confirmed to launch worldwide next week. The Taiwanese smartphone maker recently launched the HTC Wildfire E2 Play, which is now available in selected African markets. The company announced the news of the upcoming U23 model on Saturday. Live images of the smartphone were leaked on a Taiwanese message board earlier this week. The leaked images hinted at certain design elements of the handset. Some screenshots of the leaked live images also hinted at key specs and features of the smartphone.
The company officially announced in a tweet that the HTC U23 Pro will be launched on May 18th. The teaser of the phone accompanying the announcement doesn’t reveal much about it. Only the partial silhouette of a bar smartphone can be seen.

The previously leaked live images revealed that the HTC U23 Pro can be seen in three color options – silver, light green and purple. A quad rear camera assembly can be seen alongside an LED flash unit housed in a rectangular camera module in the top left corner of the phone’s rear. A center-aligned punch slot for accommodating the front camera can be seen at the top of the display.
The HTC U23 Pro has narrow side bezels with a slightly wide chin and top frame. The power button and the volume rocker can be seen on the right edge of the handset. At the bottom are the speaker grilles and the USB Type-C port.
The smartphone will be compatible with HTC’s Viverse VR platform, according to the poster in the announcement. Details on how this will be implemented have not yet been announced.
HTC U23 Pro Live View screenshots suggest it will feature a 120Hz AMOLED display. The leak adds that the smartphone is expected to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. The phone’s quad rear camera unit will likely feature a 108-megapixel primary sensor. According to the leak, the phone will also be launched with Android 13 and will have a 4,600 mAh battery.
