Hopper Health launches to provide primary care for neurodivergent adults

Hopper Health, a health navigation and virtual primary care platform, launched this week to serve adults with conditions like Tourette’s, ADHD, autism and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Patients will have access to healthcare providers trained in the communication and sensory needs of the neurodivergent population.

The New York-based platform is directly available to consumers in their home state and California through a $99 monthly membership.

“As an autistic and ADHD person with co-occurring chronic health conditions, I built Hopper Health for people like me to receive higher quality care,” said Katya Siddall-Cipolla, CEO and Founder of Hopper Health, in a statement. “Clinicians often do not know how to effectively treat neurodivergent patients, and imbalanced patient-provider power dynamics can mean that we, as experts on our own symptoms or experiences, are not taken seriously. My goal is to create a way for neurodivergent adults to take control of their health with a support system that inherently understands their challenges and needs.”

THE BIGGER TREND

In particular, autistic individuals self-report that healthcare is of lower quality than others and are more likely to have chronic and mental physical health problems. according to a study by the University of Cambridge.

Other digital health companies working to improve health options for neurodivergent individuals are a virtual reality behavioral therapy platform Floreo, which teaches independent living skills, communication, social and emotional regulation to people with autism, anxiety, ADHD and other conditions.

Chicago-based digital platform for identifying and treating obsessive-compulsive disorder NOCD offers video-based OCD treatment and UK-based Inflow offers a science-backed app that enables ADHD sufferers to actively self-manage their condition using cognitive behavioral therapy strategies.
