Champions Chelsea moved within a point of WSL leaders Manchester United by beating Leicester 6-0 at Kingsmeadow ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup final against their title rivals.
Pernille Harder scored twice and assisted Guro Reiten’s opening goal in the first half in her first start since injury led to four WSL goals in the last two games. Erin Cuthbert also scored before half-time as Chelsea went up 4-0.
Lauren James and Jelena Cankovic added to Chelsea’s tally in the second half with stunning left-footed strikes to leave Leicester two points clear of Reading, with two games left for both teams as they battle for their top-flight survival.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are breathing down the neck of Man Utd as they look to retain their WSL crown and are now just one point and one goal behind their title rivals in terms of goal difference. Emma Hayes’s side also have a game on their hands that leaves them in control of their destiny.
