Hulu will be released on April 3rd Brooke Shields: Pretty babya two-part documentary that covers Brooke Shields‘ Extensive career and public life.
In the documentation (via People), Brooke reveals she was sexually assaulted by a Hollywood executive 30 years ago.
Brooke says the attack came at the “lowest point of my career” when she was fresh out of college and trying to book steady acting gigs.
She says she went to dinner with the boss under the guise that she was “getting a movie, a job” before the boss took her back to his hotel room where the attack took place.
“I didn’t fight,” she recalled. “I’m just frozen.”
“I kept saying, ‘I shouldn’t have done that. Why did I go up with him? I shouldn’t have had that drink with dinner,'” she recalled also saying to herself after the attack.
“It was really easy to distance yourself because it was old hat by then. And because it was a fight-or-flight type of choice. Fight wasn’t an option, so you just leave your body. ,You’re not there. It did not happen.'”
Brooke also told People that it took her “a long time to process the attack” — and that she’s still processing how it made her feel.
“I’m angrier now than I was then. If you’re scared, you have a right to be. It’s a scary situation. You don’t have to be violent to be scary.”
