Brighton put five past Grimsby Town to reach the last four of the FA Cup in emphatic fashion.
Brighton took the lead after six minutes after Moises Caicedo fired a low, hard shot past Grimsby goalkeeper Max Crocombe, who made the initial save but fumbled, allowing Deniz Undav to bury the rebound in the top left corner. .
They made two at the restart when Alexis Mac Allister found Evan Ferguson inside the box. The 18-year-old, with his back to goal, brought the ball down with his left foot, then transferred it cleanly to the right before firing home.
Brighton extended their lead to make it 3-0 when Undav passed the ball to Ferguson and the Republic of Ireland international scored his second of the evening with a serene shot as he headed the ball deep.
Solly March put the game firmly out of reach when she latched on to Adam Webster’s pinpoint cross and sent a diving header past Crocombe to make it 4–0, before a deflected shot from Kaoru Mitoma in the last minute.
Brighton return to action after the international break, hosting Brentford in a Premier League fixture on April 1.
grimsby are in League Two action on Wednesday night, making the trip to Field Mill to take on Mansfield Town.
