Alodokter takes over Marubeni’s pregnancy app Diary Bunda -Dlight News

Indonesian digital health company Alodokter has acquired pregnancy app Diary Bunda from Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corp. purchased for an undisclosed amount.

Meanwhile, Marubeni has also pledged an investment in Alodokter’s parent company, Singapore-based Ranelagh, which also operates the physician platform Alomedika.

WHY IT MATTERS

Launched in 2020, Diary Bunda provides personalized medical information and content on childbirth and maternal care to address the growing societal problem of child underdevelopment. It is reported that about 1.5 million babies, or about 30% of all children born in Indonesia, are stunted every year.

According to Alodokter, the pregnancy app has “grown significantly in popularity” among Indonesian mothers in recent years and now has a monthly active user base of 100,000.

THE BIGGER TREND

Alodocter has been pursuing its expansion plans and developing new products on its platform in recent years. It recently received one an undisclosed investment by Telkom Group’s MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures for this venture.

ON THE RECORD

Alodokter said it aims to improve the digital health experience of all mothers in Indonesia by expanding its range of health services.

“We will continue to provide easy-to-use and high-quality digital health solutions to the wider community and ensure that both Alodokter and the Diary Bunda app remain a reliable and comprehensive resource for the Indonesian mothers’ community,” reads a Linkedin post.
